Overview
Designed to meet the estimated 90,000 annual patient visits, the free-standing replacement emergency department nearly tripled the size of the existing facility. The ED provides private patient care spaces, promoting privacy, reduced noise and increased infection control.
The rooms are standardized to allow for the flexibility required by varying medical needs. A cart system provides specialized supplies that can be brought to any room, thereby increasing utilization of all patient beds and decreasing the overall length of stay.
Designed around the concept “the river of hope,” the ICU department is dedicated to providing a healing environment for patients, their families and staff. The patient rooms are grouped into pods of six, surrounding a central nursing core maximizing staffing efficiencies. Large exterior openings provide patients and staff with views to the rooftop gardens and fill the interior with an abundance of natural light. The lobby provides a quiet place for families to wait, dine and work while staying close to their loved ones.
