Simon Warner, AIAPrincipalSimon Warner is the Managing Partner and President of Mascari Warner Architects. Along with running the firm’s day-to-day operations, he continues to lead major healthcare projects, maintaining a hands-on approach to management. His passion lies in creating a positive and uplifting environment, where teamwork and collaboration are fostered from day one. Simon’s professional expertise lies within the realm of healthcare architecture, where he has extensive experience leading projects from inception to completion. Since joining the firm in 1989, he has worked at all levels of project involvement from project architect to project manager and upward to principal-in-charge. Through his experience, Simon knows and understands the complex processes involved in today’s healthcare projects, and uses this knowledge in all phases of design. When Simon is not in an important meeting or on a phone call, you might find him biking down a mountain trail. |

Joseph MascariPrincipalJoe Mascari is the Commercial/Retail Principal for Mascari Warner Architects. He leads the planning and design of the firm’s commercial projects alongside his key contribution to many healthcare projects. Joe has played a pivotal role in the growth of the firm, being on the forefront entering new markets and territories with clients such as Palomar Pomerado Health. Possessing an innate ability to understand clients’ over-arching concerns, Joe utilizes a hands-on approach with each client to determine a project’s initial vision in order to optimize and realize the inherent design opportunities. Joe’s wide range of experience includes Land Use Entitlements, Planning, Urban Design, Mixed-Use and Multi-family Residential, Retail centers from Lifestyle to Town Centers, Parks and Recreation, Commercial Corporate/Office and Healthcare. When not visiting a project site, or answering emails, you will find “Papa” spending time with his children and grandchildren. |

Thai DinhAssociate PrincipalThai Dinh has experience in planning, design, construction documents, agency, and construction administration of commercial and office facilities, as well as healthcare architecture. He has worked on more than 20 healthcare projects totaling over 550,000 square feet. Thai is responsible for a project’s coordination from initial design through construction documents and construction administration. Thai’s project expertise includes working with federal, state and local regulatory agencies including OSHPD, JCAHO, DHS, City and County. He has also successfully directed projects through the ADA compliance process. When not busy at meetings or project sites, Thai finds the time to organize company-wide ping pong tournaments. |

Eric ScavoneAssociateIn 1997 Eric received his Bachelors of Science in Environmental Design from UC Davis. He spent the next three years working with a firm in San Francisco and then relocated to San Diego in August 2000. Since joining the Mascari Warner Architects team, he has been an enthusiastic and motivated employee who looks forward to pursuing a promising career in Architecture with this firm. Off-hours, Eric enjoys long walks with his wife during sunset, taking his dog to the dog park and making various improvements to their home on the weekends. |

Aaron WernerAssociateAaron Werner is a versatile team player for Mascari Warner Architects. His work includes healthcare, office and commercial/retail projects ranging in scope from master planning to interior tenant improvements. As an Associate, Aaron collaborates with clients, consultants and contractors, overseeing projects in all phases through planning and design, construction documentation, agency review, permitting and construction administration. He, however, goes beyond his duties to ensure a solid work project, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to continually improving client services. When not meeting with clients or collaborating with coworkers, you are likely to see Aaron on his way to music class, swimming lessons, or the playground with his young daughters. |

Frederick PowellAssociateWith more than 29 years of architectural experience, often in the role of a technical coordinator, Fred draws his expertise from his diverse and complex commercial, high technology, and institutional projects. His responsibilities include building design, technical coordination, project management, construction documents, and construction quality control. Fred’s architectural work covers an extensive and multi-faceted range. From high-rise towers and historic restorations to high-tech laboratories, teaching facilities and hospitals, he is committed to the successful, aesthetically pleasing, and technically exact execution of all projects. Equally important to him is the collaborative process, resulting from the optimal synergy between the design team, consultants, contractors and clients. Fred’s experience with large and technically complex projects balances Mascari Warner Architects’ specialized service approach, and affords clients the unique experience of tailored service with world class expertise. When not coordinating architectural projects, Fred can be found training for triathlons, songwriting, performing guitar and recording with his band. |

Yvette WuAssociateYvette Wu is a strong project manager with a quiet personality. She is a proven asset to the firm, never failing to meet clients’ expectations. Her track record of meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations has earned her a place as an Associate of the firm. Yvette brings to the table years of imaging project experience. Yvette’s success is marked with extensive OSPHD experience and a good working rapport with the plan reviewers. These relationships cannot be understated when dealing with complex renovation projects. In her role as project manager, Yvette collaborates with clients and contractors to streamline communication throughout a project’s duration. Yvette recognizes the importance of listening to her clients, and values the partnerships she has developed over the years. When not finding a cost effective solution to a request for information, you may find Yvette planning fun activities for a kids club or testing out new recipes in her kitchen. |

Alison WhitneyBringing more than 18 years experience within administrative, non-profit, civil engineering and commercial real estate fields, as well as extensive volunteer coordination that has afforded the opportunity to successfully expand on event coordination and marketing/promotion, Alison is excited to be a part of the Mascari Warner Architects team. Since 2009, Alison has served as a Volunteer Social Coordinator, developing activities to encourage people of all ages to responsibly ride our trails, teach skills, and foster a sense of land stewardship helping to preserve San Diego County’s multi-use trail systems for future generations. She collaborates with corporate sponsors, local bike shops and other non-profits to promote trail work, multi-use trails, and healthy lifestyles through various events. Alison was voted ‘volunteer of the year for 2009′ due to her judicious use of funds and her natural networking ability that helped grow the organization 200 percent in her first year. Alison’s passion for her community and enthusiasm to enrich others’ lives serves a great purpose in expanding the integrity and excellence of the Mascari Warner Architects team to our clients. |

Bradley StechA member of the Mascari Warner Architects team since the summer of 2000, Brad has worked to infuse our office culture with an environmental consciousness and impact the building choices we make from the start. He is specifically interested in how “Green” architecture can create more productive, cost-effective and engaging spaces for our clients and the users of their buildings. His interest in sustainability began while studying at the University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelors of Architecture in May of 1999. The University’s curriculum stressed intelligent, high performance design that maintains a connection to place, climate and people. Brad has worked extensively on projects for Scripps Health and Kaiser Permanente on a local basis and with the Saint Mary’s Health Network in Reno, Nevada. In addition to these projects, Brad has worked to improve his knowledge in the field of Green Architecture and pass it along to his colleagues in order to improve the product offered by the Firm. His most recent fascination is with the idea that the design and development of hospitals can heal more than just the patients that will visit them, but reach out into the community and world as improve the living conditions found in the region. Brad looks forward to his continued development here at Mascari Warner Architects and within the Green Building Movement; his ultimate goal is to integrate the two and instill an eco-effective design mindset from top to bottom within the Office. |

Cameron MascariAfter graduating high school in 2006, Cameron joined the Mascari Warner Architects team where he assists in many of the operational tasks of the company. He works in the accounting department, assists in drafting, and often gets the chance to go out on job sites. He currently attends Cuyamaca Community College where he is a business major. In his free time, Cameron likes playing his bass guitar, enjoying the company of friends, and cruising around town on his long-board skateboard. |

Carlos DiazAward winner for the best design of the 4th year studio in the Bachelor of Architecture program, Carlos is working on his thesis at Newschool of Architecture and Design in San Diego, California. Carlos aspires to be an architect, like both his father and grandfather before him, and is currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program, a prerequisite to taking the architectural licensing exams. His love for architecture began at the age of four while accompanying his father on site visits and watching him draft on a table by pencil. He joined Mascari Warner Architects in the summer of 2010 and is enjoying the various aspects of healthcare design and project development. Carlos is interested in all aspects of architecture from theory to construction. In his spare time he enjoys reading, going to sporting events, and playing basketball. |

Claudia RamirezClaudia joined Mascari Warner Architects in February 2007. With a background in urban planning and design, her education includes a BA in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California, San Diego and a Masters in Architecture for the Newschool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. Prior to pursuing her Master’s degree, Claudia spent 6 years in the non-profit sector developing affordable housing. Working as an assistant project manager, her experience ranges from coordinating entitlements, structuring project financing, to coordinating project construction for new affordable housing throughout Southern California. Her passion for design however led her to pursue a degree in architecture to fulfill a lifelong goal. Upon graduation Claudia worked on residential and commercial projects for Richard Yen and Associates. During off time Claudia enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her son Diego. |

Debbie MolinaBorn and raised in the “hole” of Imperial Valley – Brawley, CA where sweltering temperatures rise to triple digits in the summer. Debbie decided to move to the cool summers of San Diego hoping to find something new. She joined the Mascari Warner Architects team in March 2003 and enjoys the family-like work environment. In her spare time you can find her fishing at the lake with her husband or having fun in the desert with her family and friends and enjoying motherhood! |

Eileen GottenmoellerHailing from the Midwest, Eileen moved to San Diego after finishing an Interior Design degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Architecture from the University of Kansas. During her studies, she took multiple courses focused on the function that design plays in well-being and healing, as well as studios which apply those ideas to the built environment. Several research topics during her graduate work included the role of gardens in healing and the characteristics of sustainable healthcare architecture. Eileen is eager to make a difference in the lives of people and their communities through effective design and proudly joins the team at Mascari Warner Architects. In the coming years, she hopes to become a LEED Accredited Professional and earn professional licenses in both architecture and interior design. In her free time, Eileen enjoys camping, traveling, and Skyping with her young niece and nephews, as well as furthering a new-found passion for rock climbing. |

Gabriel LegaspiA native San Diegan, Gabriel joined Mascari Warner Architects in October of 2010. Since obtaining his Bachelors of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2005, he has worked on multiple project types including residential, corporate, ecclesiastical, retail and healthcare. Gabriel looks forward to continuing his profession in the healthcare industry. When not in the office, Gabriel enjoys running half and full marathons, morning surf sessions, and spending time with his wife and energetic Border Collie. |

Gary PotterGary Potter is a valuable new addition to the Mascari Warner Architects team. Practicing architecture in San Diego for the past 30 years, Gary has had vast experience in all areas of the architectural discipline. As a senior project manager/architect, Gary’s responsibilities have included project coordination, preparation of construction documents, discretionary permit submittals, and construction administration for a wide range of architectural projects. His technical proficiency and dedication to accurate drawings are the primary reason he is well respected in the contracting community. Clients and contractors recognize and appreciate his attention to detail and thoroughness, as well as hands-on involvement throughout the design and construction process. Gary is a strong proponent of value-added design, and will focus on the client’s requirements and budget to make the project a reality from the very start. |

Matthew SmithMatthew joined the Mascari Warner Architects team in the spring of 2010 and hit the ground running. As member of the San Diego architectural community for the past decade, he has worked at award winning firms producing projects ranging from Community Development to Civic/Public Architecture, and, most recently, has focused on Healthcare Design and Planning. After attending Virginia Tech, Matthew extended his academic focus of understanding the esthetic experience created by the built environment by joining the San Diego Foundation’s Legacy Committee, whose goal was to found the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture, and has since become an Evidence Based Design Accredited Professional (EDAC). He believes that EBD will be ‘the new Green’, but, as a LEED Accredited Professional, feels that the two endeavors go hand-in-hand. After spending time working in San Francisco, Matthew was excited to make San Diego his home. You can find him in the kitchen filling up his coffee, or at Fiesta Island with his wife and son, letting his beagle, Douglas, explore the tall grass for wild game. |

Michelle NiglMichelle joined Mascari Warner Architects in June of 2006, after completing her Masters of Architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. She relocated to San Diego from the Midwest after receiving her Bachelors of Science of Architecture from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2004. While in undergrad she spent a month studying architecture in China and Japan. Her experience prior to joining the Mascari Warner Architects team was working for a residential firm in Coronado while attending graduate school. Since coming aboard Mascari Warner Architects, she has worked on several healthcare projects. She has taken on many roles, from working with clients and contractors through design, construction documents, agency, bidding, and construction administration. Michelle has extensive experience working with the OSHPD review process and local representatives to gain project approvals. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to such places as China and Japan and visiting her family back in Wisconsin. |

Nina TomosevichNina Tomasevich is an architectural and interior designer bringing over 2 years of experience from graphic design, web design, photography and film. Her love for architecture stems from her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, and Los Angeles. It is her goal to create lasting environments and inspirational design. Nina graduated in June 2004 from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in Visual Arts Media Major with a Computing Emphasis. She joined the Mascari Warner Architects team in June of 2006, after deciding to return to school to pursue architecture. Her educational background focuses on advanced visual design, adapting digital images, and digital video. Her prior work as a graphic designer and educational experience have exposed her to a board range of design media, technologies, and software applications. She delivers an extensive degree of creativity and latitude, and has brought widely varying concepts into reality on many occasions. Nina hopes to earn her Masters Degree in Architecture as well as continue her studies in design. |

Ronald DevesaRonald has over 18 years of experience on projects in various industries, including healthcare, education, recreational and institutional. Prior to joining Mascari Warner Architects, Ronald worked on a project for Sharp Chula Vista serving as a BIM Modeler for the Emergency Department Expansion project. Ronald is highly proficient with computer aided drafting programs such as AutoCad and Revit, in addition to being a skilled architectural illustrator. Outside of the office, Ronald expresses his creativity through a camera lens, photographing everything from scenery to people, with his two children being his favorite subjects. |

Sandra LeDrewSandra joined Mascari Warner Architects in March 2000. She proudly supports the partners with day to day operations. Her role as Executive Assistant for the firm includes involvement with the Lean Construction Institute Southern California Chapter. Sandra very much enjoys the architectural environment and working with the talented team at Mascari Warner Architects. |

Susan HoaglandAfter graduating from Long Beach State University with a Business Degree, and with the return of her husband from Vietnam, they set their skills to work with the purchase of several donut franchises in Blythe, Pacific Beach, Hillcrest, El Cajon and Mira Mesa. Susan’s career took a more serious turn when the construction industry struck her fancy. She spent over 15 years with subcontractors and general contractors, enjoying all the challenges that accounting can offer. Susan also spent some time with a CPA firm where she was scheduled to assist with auditing, compilation, write-up and taxes. Susan’s family and friends are most important in her life. With her “family” at Mascari Warner Architects, she feels she has gone full circle. |

Zack ParadiseZack Paradise is a native San Diegan, born and raised. He attended Granite Hills High School, where he enjoyed playing football and spending time with friends. After high school, he attended the University of San Diego for two years before realizing that IT work was his true passion. He went back to work as the IT manager for his family company, Paradise Electric. After working for a short time, he felt it was necessary to expand his experience. In September 2007, Zack started working for Mascari Warner Architects to further his IT career. When he is not hard at work, you can find him relaxing at the river, the lake or having fun in the desert with his family and his friends. |
