As a leader in teaching and research, UCSD Medical Center Hillcrest came to Mascari Warner Architects to create a dedicated facility, the Bydder Lab, to accommodate the generous gift of a 3T magnet from GE Medical Systems. Focusing on research, studies on volunteer patients and animals will be conducted.
Developed in conjunction with GE, this modular building will house patient diagnostics and numerous offices all dependent on the use of magnetic resonance technologies.
As a key design element, the patient prep area and scan room were designed utilizing large windows, warm colors and natural materials in order to reduce anxieties and promote a relaxing environment.
